Memorize Scripture As A Family

Home » Uncategorized » Memorize Scripture As A Family
IMAGE BY : ANGELA DOHERTY PHOTOGRAPHY

I know from personal experience how important it is to memorize scripture! It’s something I continually try to work on even as an adult but it’s something I love to practice with my kids as well!

I started doing this with my kids when they were two and three years old, showing you’re really never too young to start memorizing scripture! First, I took a picture frame, removed the photo and replaced it with a piece of paper. I then used a dry erase marker to write a verse on it.

That picture frames with the verse then sat right next to a candy dish. Everyday, sometimes more then once a day, the kids would ask for candy. In order to get the candy, they had to recite the scripture. Easy peasy. It works like a charm, they had scripture memorized so fast! Still to this day, we’ll be out somewhere and before they pop candy into their mouth, they’ll say scripture! It cracks me up!

FAVORITE VERSES

Kind words are like honey, they cheer you up and make you feel strong! Proverbs 16:24

Love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul, mind and strength. Luke 10:27

You must all be quick to listen, slow to speak, and slow to get angry. James 1:19

Give thanks to the Lord, for He is good! His faithful love endures forever. 1 Chronicles 16:34

I am with you always, even to the end of the age. Matthew 28:20

See, God will help me; the Lord will support me. Psalm 54:4

Seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you. Matthew 6:33

These are a few of my favorites scriptures to memorize as a family! They’re short, sweet and a great armor to prepare our hearts with as go about our day! I hope your family enjoys the sweet gift of writing God’s word on your heart.
