Justice?

Home » Uncategorized » Justice?

There is a cry for justice in our culture. It is loud and it frankly is somewhat frightening. Take heart because here is what is true; Justice is a wonderful word. It is a character of God, it is who God is – He is JUST. Our culture’s cry for justice is truly a reflection of the heart for God in our nation. We can praise God for that.

God is also mercy and grace, these characteristics of Himself all flow together in perfect harmony, working together to advance His Kingdom here on earth.

I’ve been reminded in these days of unrest that while the call for justice remains the same, the character of God and who He is, is the same yesterday, today and tomorrow. Our call as followers of Christ remains the same as well. That call is to be Shalom to our world. Welcoming, loving, full of mercy and grace and yes – full of justice! Bringing with us peace, restoration and the ability to work together for the benefit of all people, wherever we go and in whatever we do!

This task is no small challenge, it takes immense humility and patience as we commit ourselves to the call of Shalom. Trusting God to bring HIS reigning & everlasting justice.

PRAYER

Jesus, You are Lord. Your heart is just and I thank you for your ultimate justice. When every tongue will praise your name. I lift up our country and our world to You, asking for Your justice – not my own. I pray for wisdom in my role for Your justice to be brought, asking that You guide and direct each heart for You. Above all, I pray for peace. Peace and unity in our leadership, Your Church, our streets, homes and hearts. In Jesus name, Amen.

SCRIPTURE

Learn to do good; seek justice, correct oppression; bring justice to the fatherless, plead the widow’s cause. ISAIAH 1:17

Beloved, never avenge yourselves, but leave it to the wrath of God, for it is written, “Vengeance is mine, I will repay, says the Lord”. ROMANS 12:19

Blessed are they who observe justice, who do righteousness at all times! PSALM 106:3

But let justice roll down like waters, righteousness like a never failing stream. AMOS 5:24
