Madden’s on Gull Lake

Home » Uncategorized » Madden’s on Gull Lake

Our family vacation to Madden’s on Gull Lake was the perfect kick off to summer! Maddens is located on Gull Lake in Brainerd Minnesota. Which is the perfect little road trip from the Twin Cities. We drove up on a Friday after lunch and came home on Sunday. The kids only complaint, they wanted to stay longer!

This trip was by far a highlight of our year, here’s the full scoop on everything we did, what we want to do more of and how you can save on your trip to Madden’s on Gull Lake!

The Resort : Where We Stayed

When we arrived at Madden’s on Gull Lake we first checked in at the most gorgeous “main house” we’ve ever seen. It’s absolutely stunning and a gorgeous way to be welcomed onto the property. From there we went over to our cottage and it was the perfect set up for our family. We stayed in the Mission Point 2 Bedroom Cottages. 2 bedroom 2 bath and a small kitchenette downstairs. All of this with phenomenal views of the lake. You walked right out of the living room onto the beach – my favorite spot for morning coffee, afternoon cards and after dinner relaxing.

Experiences : How We Played

We did so many amazing activities and created memories to last a lifetime! Madden’s on Gull Lake has a lot of options for experiences. Our favorite thing is that you can pick and choose what works best for your family, kids ages and level of activity you want in your vacation.

We loved the recreation center located at Parfecto Pizza. The kids did a tennis lesson while Joe and I played pickle ball (I know, we’re old but we love it!) After that, we went to ski school!

SKI SCHOOL WAS A HUGE HIT!

Ski School was one of our greatest highlights of the vacation. We went out on a ski boat with a driver and ski instructor both of whom were fantastic and very helpful! Our oldest got up on the boom fairly quickly and then she got up on the rope for the first time – ever! It was so fun to watch her get out of the water on her skis! Madden’s made a life time skier that day and it was amazing to watch!

We also rented a pontoon for the afternoon. Let me tell you, that pontoon was pristine! It was an incredibly nice boat and so comfortable to take out on the lake. We took it to the sand bar to swim, tubed through some bays and I may or may not have taken a small snooze out there!

We also played lawn bowling, I saw yoga going on and there’s just loads more of activities you can do. I really appreciated how you can control the level of activity you desire for your vacation.

Dining : What We Ate

The food, oh how we ate well! Something I greatly appreciated about the Madden’s on Gull Lake property was the assortment and availability of food options.

The first night we ate at Mission Point, which had stunning views of the lake and was a quick walk on the beach from our cabin. We also ate at Parfecto Pizza, The Classic Grill and had breakfast at the buffet in Fairways both Saturday and Sunday morning.

Everything we had was delicious but I am particularly thankful for so many gluten free options. Everything on each menu was marked if it was gluten free. There was also gluten free crust available at Parfecto Pizza, which is a massive win in my book!

We did end the evenings at Chrissy’s for ice cream and I took home some of their delicious homemade fudge. I got the salted nut roll – which I could not recommend more!!

How to Save

My family would not hesitate to recommend a vacation to Madden’s on Gull Lake. It really was as fun and even more beautiful than it looks in photos! They’re third generation owned and operated and it’s a joy to support this fantastic property! We are so thankful for our time there! So much so, we’re actually heading back towards the end of the summer to get some golf in too. Did I mention they have gorgeous golf courses as well!

We can’t wait to get back there and we encourage you to grab your people and get this must do summer vacation on the books!
